October 7th, 2009 · No Comments

1 Good Reason is pleased to announce the launch of a new weekly chat for Twitter called Social Marketing Chat or #SocialMarketing. We hold a weekly open discussion at Noon Eastern Time every Thursday about social marketing with guest twitterer’s answering a series of questions from moderators and the audience.

WHAT:   #SocialMarketing Chat an open discussion about social marketing
WHO:     BL Ochman blogger and social marketing consultant
WHERE:  Your Twitter Feed or use www.TweetChat.com
WHEN:   Thursday  12 Noon to 1 PM Eastern Time

We are pleased to announce the inaugural guest for #SocialMarketing chat is the distinguished blogger BL Ochman.  BL is a blogger and social media strategy consultant to Fortune 500 companies, and sought-after corporate speaker.  B.L. Ochman heads the creative team of www.whatsnextonline.com. She also is the co-founder of www.Pawfun.com, the custom photo t-shirt site for pet lovers.  BL’s blog is currently #4 on the AdAge Power 150 ranking.

WHAT IS A TWITTER CHAT? A Twitter chat is an open discussion which occurs on a schedule led by a moderator and featuring recognized experts on a topic.  The moderator generally asks few questions to kick off the discussion with the expert.  All questions, answers and comments are identified by a common hashtag, in this case #SocialMarketing.   The audience is anyone who chooses to follow the discussion via the hashtag.  Anyone on Twitter can join the discussion simply by sending a tweet which contains the hashtag.

HOW TO: Everyone interested in social marketing is welcome to take part in #SocialMarketing chat. You can do so by simply clicking on the hashtag #SocialMarketing in your twitter stream (this takes you to a Twitter search for the term, you will need to refresh the page to see new comments).  To join the discussion, or ask a question, simply include the word “#socialmarketing” (without quotes) in your tweet message and the moderators guests and all those participating can see your comment or question.  An easy to use tool for following and to join in twitter chats is www.TweetChat.com which is free.  Use http://tweetchat.com/room/socialmarketing and login with your Twitter ID.  It makes following the discussion simple, automatically updates and will automatically insert the hashtag for you in any messages you send.

Thanks to @Marc_Meyer for the inspiration for #SocialMarketing chat and I highly recommend his chat on Tuesday at noon called: #socialmedia chat.  #socialmedia chat is a little more broad where #SocialMarketing chat will focus only on the marketing aspects of the field.

If you are interested in being interviewed for a future #SocialMarketing Chat please contact Chris Kieff via ckieff at gmail or @ckieff on Twitter.
