I have to agree with Martyn. I was always tought humans are an evolutionary species not a revolutionary and this kind of movement will take time. Indeed lots of the items shown in the video are happening already in all sorts of places but again, its a slow process. And what is missing completely in this video is what it could mean for companies and their marketing and communications. There's a lot to be learnt and done from that point of view!

I can't help feeling, for the moment, that while this sounds good it misses many points and smacks of narrow mindedness. The world hasn't changed that much yet. There are many out there and many more aspiring to be defined by what they have and what they own rather than what they share, just take a look at the emerging industrial mights around the globe. Greed is still abig driver with many people and those that dont have sure like to have!

Chris... you inspired my blog post this morning.
Of course I had to use the marketing lense to make sure it matched with my blog's focus.

Chris,

You GOT it! That's exactly the way I feel about this video. Very deep and requires a lot of thought. Thanks for sharing your thought provoking ideas on this. I especially like the book/blog comparison, (said the blogger).

Thanks,
Chris

I found the video quite interesting. I like the whiteboard medium because the message doesn't get distracted by a lot of fluff. It got me thinking.

So, if mass innovation is the 21st century and it's all free, how do we make a living? Maybe its time to stop worrying about having a telephone/tv in everyroom and a car for every driver (ie, less consumerism) and look to way to increase happiness/fulfillment. Success is doing more with less.

The measure of success in the 21st century is:
_______________. (knowing how to update wiki? Sharing an awesome app? Only consuming just enough and sharing the rest with others?) Knowledge?

Big mindset change from:
corner office = laptop office on the beach
BMW = hybrid or yellow tallow powered
book on the best seller list = blog #200 on technorati

I'm going to mull on this some more. Thanks for the inspiration.

David,

Yes the medium in this case doesn't enhance the message too much.

I don't care that it's a video I'm after the message. Which is what is so powerful, and the reason that I posted it on my blog.

And thanks for noticing I'll be on MadAveJournal. I'll try hard to make my work there worth the trip.

An interesting video, but much too long. I found myself jumping ahead, not wanting to wait for the words to scroll. Now that I think about it, what's being said is more interesting than the video itself.

Thanks for sharing it.

I'll be watching for you at MadAveJournal.

Toby & Josef,

Yes it's a very powerful video that must be watched over again to truly grasp the concepts.

Thanks,
